More Mods Lag Less Than Less Mods?

Before 1.20 came out, I would play with a lot of mods, and it would only get laggy if I had more than 50.

But now, I play with only 10, and it lags way more?

I don't get why using less mods lags more, and using more mods lags less.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
